Spring is here, but your skin didn’t get the memo! Flaky skin can be frustrating, especially when you’re trying to achieve that effortless, no-makeup look. It can make foundations appear unnatural and highlight dryness, which is the last thing anyone wants. While it’s tempting to exfoliate those pesky flakes away, doing it too harshly can backfire. So, what can we do instead? Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to banishing those flakes for good!

Step 1: Cleanse Gently
Start with a basic cleanser that’s gentle on your skin. Whether it’s a gel, cream, or foam, just make sure it’s not harsh! There are plenty of great face washes out there, and you probably have one that works perfectly fine. No need to buy anything new!
Step 2: Exfoliate with Care
Next, grab your Fresh Sugar Face Polish. This is a game-changer! Here’s how to use it:
Dampen your face with water.
Apply a couple of teaspoons of this magical scrub all over your face, focusing on the flaky areas.
Leave it on for 8-10 minutes (the directions say 5, but extra time can work wonders for extreme dryness).
Remember, don’t scrub hard—just be gentle!
Step 3: Rinse Wisely
Rinse off the scrub with warm water and a washcloth. Make sure to remove all the grains, but leave the oil from the scrub on your skin. Avoid over-rinsing or using soap again, as you want that moisture to stay!
Step 4: Hydrate Immediately
Within 3 minutes of rinsing, apply Hada Labo Japan Gokujun Hyaluron Milky Lotion. This product is fantastic for locking in hydration. While other hyaluronic acid products will probably work, I haven’t found one better or more affordable than this!
Step 5: Let it Dry
Allow the Hada Labo lotion to dry down completely. Your skin should start looking flaky-free and beautifully hydrated! Remember, it’s crucial to lock in that hyaluronic acid.
Step 6: Moisturize
Daytime: For daytime hydration, I love using Weleda Skin Food Original Ultra-Rich Body Cream (yes, on my face!). If that feels too heavy for you, any good occlusive lotion will do the trick.
Nighttime: It’s time to slug! Apply your favorite overnight barrier (think Vaseline, Aquaphor, etc.). My personal favorite for slugging is Homeoplasmine.
Tips for Extreme Dryness
After following these steps, your dry skin should see significant improvement! During particularly dry spells, I’ve done this treatment 1-2 times a day, performing the full routine once and spot treating flaky areas with the Fresh Sugar Face Polish as needed.
Step into Spring with a Fresh, Flake-free Glow
Flaky skin can be a real hassle, but saying goodbye to those annoying flakes is a true relief! With this straightforward guide, you can restore hydration and achieve a smooth, radiant complexion.
Now your skin can reflect the changing season, and be flake free in the sunshine! This simple routine not only enhances your skin but also boosts the other parts of routine. So, here’s to a flake-free glow this spring! Embrace your skin’s transformation and enjoy the confidence that comes with it—because life is too short for flakes!
